Hi guys! My name is Samantha and this is Perfectly Samantha: The singleton’s guide to life, writing, and Netflix.
noun: singleton; plural noun: singletonsa description of single people popularized by Helen Fielding, the author of Bridget Jones’ Diary.
“Many singletons are very happy with their lives.”
After blogging for over ten years on various sites and becoming a super influential influencer who influences people (I can call myself that with 462 followers, right?), I realized something: There are almost no singleton bloggers. Most are married or in a relationship. So, I figure I owe it to my fellow singletons, specifically my fellow female singletons, to tell my story. I hope it’ll inspire them to tell theirs.
My story: I’m 29, Canadian, Christian, a proud career admin, and a writer. I’m currently working on my first novel. I’m also hoping to break into the field of talking to my camera about movies and then posting it on YouTube.
I’ve been single for approximately 29 years (I’m thinking about having a Bridget Jones’ style celebration when I hit my 32nd year of being single). I’ve had first dates, some of which resulted from meeting people online, but I haven’t been in a relationship, nor have I ever kissed anyone. So, when I say “I’m single,” I don’t mean what some women mean, which is “I’ve been single since my long term boyfriend and I broke up six months ago.” I mean I’m REALLY single, and after struggling to tell people, I’ve finally realized that it’s nothing to be embarrassed about (Shout out to Single Girl Problems: Why Being Single Isn’t a Problem to Be Solved for helping me realize this).
I’m looking forward to sharing my journey as a singleton, writer, and reviewer. The blog is divided into living (me, style, travel), reviewing (books, movies, TV) and writing (blogging, chick-lit, and prompts). I’m going to try posting according to a schedule because extreme organization is a big part of who I am. I also alphabetize my books and my DVD collection, and my closet is organized by sleeve length and colour.
