Today is a new feature I’m adding to my blog. Today posts will be the type of posts that bloggers wrote back when blogs were new. Essentially, they’re journal or diary entries.
I’m doing this for three reasons:
1. I’m trying to create a more cohesive lifestyle blog, and I think the glue should be my life experience. Have I ever told you I’m terrible at analogies?
2. As my pastor says every week, context matters. I feel like just putting random bits about my life once in a while doesn’t supply a lot of context that tells people who I am. Plus, I’d love to write a memoir one day, so I need to learn to write in context.
3. I say in my About page that I’m going to tell my story, but I’ve been doing this sort of haphazardly. I’m not going to go into extreme detail about 1989 to now, and I’m never going to talk about work. However, certain non-work related stories stand out to me, and I’d like to share them.
Also, as a disclaimer, I will be writing about people I know, but only in the same way I’ve been writing about them so far: Positively and anonymously. For example, so far in this blog I’ve mentioned family members and people at my church. Unless you know me personally, you won’t know who these people are. I think this is a good system.
By the way, if you’re one of the people I talk about in my blog, Facebook, or Instagram, and you’d rather I didn’t, please let me know.
I won’t promote these on Facebook because I don’t see the point, but if you want to share them or comment on them, whether online or in person, please feel free. I think sharing stories brings people closer together.
