Did you know that most insecurities are in your head?
For example, recently I wished I was wearing a shirt that read “Nine years of education and three credentials.” That’s not because of anything anyone has said or done; I just worry sometimes that because I don’t focus on “serious” stuff on my blog, social media, or in my writing, that I come across as a ditz.
The thing is, though, I don’t want to write about politics or current events. Everyone and their dog is writing about [FILL IN WHICHEVER CURRENT EVENT IS HAPPENING WHEN YOU READ THIS. I’M THINKING OF A PARTICULAR ONE, BUT YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN] and I just don’t want to.
I’m aware of events that I need to be aware of for my career and for my writing, but I don’t need to give the internet my opinion.
Back to Good by Matchbox Twenty has a great lyric as it relates to my thoughts on “serious” stuff:

I just don’t. I can’t see any advantages in sharing my thoughts about literally everything to literally everyone. All I can do is what I’m doing right now and say, somewhat defensively as, again, I feel like I’m the only person in the world not writing about this particular issue, that yes, I have thoughts on “serious” stuff, but you won’t see them here. If instead you want to hear about my favourite makeup, click here.
There are a lot of very good reasons to not discuss “serious” stuff on my blog, and that’s why I don’t. I hope that people who know me in real life know that I am smart and that I have opinions about things that aren’t movies and makeup; I just choose not to share them online.
